Our Impact teams serve as part of the Communitylife arm of Lifechurch. They are projects launched to help us to network with, and share resources with the local communities of Nuneaton and Bedworth. They serve to befriend, support, minister and sign post people to local resources with the ultimate aim of bringing people to Christ. The vision, through connecting with other like-minded, third sector organisations, is to become a relevant and integral part of the community. A first port of call for anyone in need.
The Impact team vision is founded upon Isaiah 61:
“…The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendour…”
The Boomerang Project
The Boomerang project runs on Wednesday nights at our Nuneaton building, The Parish Hall, and is a feeding program for those below the poverty line. These are not necessarily homeless people, but people on housing benefit or people with local issues such as drugs and alcohol.
There are four teams of over 30 volunteers working as part of the project, with 7 or 8 people per team committing to serve once a month.
The project is still young but has seen great growth, now ministering to nearly 20 people each week. In coalition with other agencies in the area the word is slowly spreading and we believe this ministry will only grow large as time goes on.
How can I get involved?
If you’d like to get involved in any of our Impact teams, or would like to suggest a local need we could play a part is meeting then get in touch with Jim McCleave on a Sunday or contact us through the office.
